Why I Started Affitto: A Passion for Two Wheels and One Great City

During the city lockdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, I was in search of new hobbies to preoccupy my time like many others. While others picked up baking sourdough bread (which is delicious by the way), and instagram push up challenges, I sought something a little more thrilling. I was an avid bicyclist, so naturally I always had a curiosity about motorcycling, and thought it was cool. But after taking a trip to the Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee with a friend, I was  inspired to finally take the leap. So I enrolled in the IDOT Cycle Rider Safety Training program to get my license, and deep dived into the Chicago motorcycling scene.

As many of you know, once you start to immerse yourself in the motorcycling culture, it doesn’t take long to realize how special it is, but also how expensive it can be. Oftentimes the cost alone is a key reason why many don’t even try to engage in this world. With this in mind, and the desire to share this passion with as many people as I can, the idea for Affitto was born. We want to prevent you from skipping out on going on the motorcycle trips you dream of by providing you with reasonably priced rentals, and all the necessary resources you may lack such as protective gear, luggage, etc.

Exploring the world around you from the saddle of a motorbike is an incredible feeling incomparable to anything else, and we aim to make this experience accessible to everyone. Whether you're a local rider looking to try out a new bike or a visitor wanting a fun and easy way to explore the vibrant city of Chicago, Affitto was born to be your trusted partner on the road.
