Do I need insurance to rent a scooter?

Rental Experience

Are there any mileage restrictions?

All our rentals now come with unlimited mileage for free

Can I rent a vehicle for a day, a weekend, or longer?

Yes, we offer flexible rental durations to suit your needs, from single-day rentals to multi-day and weekly options

Do you offer one-way rentals?

Currently, we only offer round-trip rentals from our Chicago location.

How do the discounts provided through membership of the Horizon Club work with multi-day discounts?

The discounts provided by the membership plan you are subscribed to are combined with the multi-day discounts you may be eligible for. For example, if you are subscribed to our Horizon Club Silver plan which offers 10% discount off rental rates, and you are planning to rent a bike for 6 days, which makes you eligible for a 20% discount regardless of your membership status, you would receive a combined 30% discount for this rental trip

Can I ride my scooter on the highway?

Scooters and motorcycles that are under 150cc should not be ridden on the highways since they lack the speed to keep up with traffic on the highway, making them unsafe to ride in those conditions. Vehicles 150cc or higher are safe to ride on the highways

I have been assigned to do a self check-in for my rental. What is the process?

When doing self check in, this means you do not have to wait for an Affitto staff member to check you into your vehicle. Once you arrive at the pickup location, you will grab the keys from the lockbox (code will be provided to your email) and inspect your vehicle. Then you will take a selfie with the vehicle, in which you will send us the photo to confirm you have picked up the vehicle. That's all to it. Now you are ready to go off on your adventure

Claims & Accidents

What should I do in case of damage or accident while driving an Affitto vehicle?

First, ensure you are safe and contact the police (911). Contact us at (708) 365-8264, and provide the following details of the damage/accident:

  • Date and time of the incident
  • Description of the incident
  • Description of damages
  • Location of incident
  • Any other property or vehicles involved in the incident
  • Any other parties involved in the incident

Additionally, please provide the other party's contact information if available, as we will pursue them and/or their insurance company for damages if determined they were at fault. However, our pursuit of the other party does not absolve you from your contractual obligation with Affitto. Ultimately, the renter is responsible for any and all loss of or damage to the bike resulting from any cause including but not limited to collision, rollover, theft, tire damage and vandalism, medical condition, flood, fire, hail or other acts of Nature.

What is the typical timeline for processing a damage claim?

When a vehicle is involved in an accident you can typically expect to hear from Affitto within a 30 day time-frame from the date of the incident. The time-frame heavily depends on the type and amount of damage the vehicle endured as a result of the incident.

How can I pay for the damage I caused?

Once the cost of the damage is determined, we will send you a bill via email which will contain link for you to set up payment
