The Illinois Department of Transportation offers various motorcycle training courses for riders of all skill and experience, including its Basic Rider Course focused on newbies, and Advanced Rider Course dedicated to more experienced riders. IDOT will provide resources necessary for the training, including motorcycles/scooters. The great thing about IDOT is all their courses are Free for Illinois residents (only have to pay 20$ to reserve your spot but is refunded once you attend the course)! Completing the program will waive the Secretary of State (SOS) requirement of the motorcycle written and road test to get your Motorcycle endorsement for those 18 years or older. Ride Chicago is a private alternative to the IDOT motorcycle training program as they too provide professional instruction for all skill levels and motorcycles for students to use. In addition to the offerings of the IDOT program, Ride Chicago offers private lessons, online motorcycle instruction, and a more flexible, quicker schedule.
